Privacy Policy for Simple Notes
Last Updated: May 2026
Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how ‘Simple Notes’ handles your information, data storage, and security practices.
By using Simple Notes, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
Simple Notes is designed to be a fast, easy, simple, and secure tool for keeping personal notes.
- No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect, track, or store any personal identifiable information (such as your name, email address, phone number, or location) on any external servers.
- Ad Networks (Future Consideration): Currently, Simple Notes does not display advertisements. However, we may integrate third-party ad networks in the future to support development. If integrated, these networks may collect device identifiers (like the Android Advertising ID) solely to serve relevant ads. This policy will be updated to name those specific partners if and when they are added.
2. Local Data Storage & Automated Trash System
All notes, titles, and content you create within Simple Notes are stored strictly locally on your own Android device’s internal storage.
- No Cloud Backups: Your notes never leave your device. We do not have access to your notes, nor do we sync them to any cloud services.
- The 7-Day Auto-Delete Trash System: When you delete a note, it is moved to the app’s internal Trash category. To help you manage device space cleanly, notes in the Trash are automatically and permanently deleted from your device storage after 7 consecutive days. Once deleted from the trash, this data is unrecoverable.
3. User-Initiated Data Sharing (.TXT Export)
Simple Notes features an option allowing you to share or export your notes as plain text (.txt) files to external destinations of your choice (such as email clients, messaging applications, or cloud drives).
- User Control: This sharing mechanism is entirely initiated and controlled by you, the user, utilizing Android’s native share sheet.
- Third-Party Privacy: Once a note is shared outside of Simple Notes, its privacy and security are governed by the privacy policy of the specific third-party application you chose to share it with.
4. Data Security and Encrypted Categories
We prioritize the security of your data. Simple Notes includes a “Secure Notes” category to protect your sensitive thoughts.
- PIN Authentication: Access to secure categories requires a user-defined numeric PIN code.
- SHA-256 Encryption: Your security PIN is hashed locally on your device using the SHA-256 (Secure Hash Algorithm). This ensures that even if someone gains access to your device’s local app file directory, your actual PIN cannot be reverse-engineered or read in plain text.
- User Responsibility: Because all security data is stored purely locally, we cannot reset your PIN if you forget it. Please ensure you remember your access code.
5. Children’s Privacy
Since Simple Notes does not collect any personal data or transmit information over the internet on its own, our application is safe for use by individuals of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time (for example, if we introduce ad networks or cloud backup features). We advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. Any updates are effective immediately upon being deployed within the app or updated on this public URL.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the security or privacy practices of Simple Notes, please feel free to reach out to the developer directly through your developer contact options on the Google Play Store.
